CHIN UP DARLING

Happy Hump Day !

I bet you have probably pulled a push door and for a moment there felt like you just bit your tongue. It's even worse if there are people right behind you and outside the door. No way to exit with your dignity right ?

Oh actually maybe you will relate to this one more. Ever just walk on the street and you could swear someone was literally looking at you when they waved and even though it was a total stranger, you actually raised your hand to wave back. Upon realizing you weren't the intended recipient, you now have to be creative and act like you were just stretching your hand or scratching an ear...

Why the above illustrations?

It's to basically show that there are times in life we feel a little embarrassed by things we've done or situations we've put ourselves in but we don't linger too long on them. We literally just keep it moving. It's such a normal thing that we quickly forget about as we go about our day and if we do remember it's to literally just get a good laugh out of those we share the experience with.

But sometimes it's different...

Sometimes we feel like we can't forget about it. That people around us can't forget what we did. We're ever embarrassed each time, sulking our heads. We want to even overcompensate and so many other things just to ensure there's no room for these people to even catch a second and remember what happened.... ( Most times we actually overestimate the amount of time people spend thinking about us or things we have done.)

A case in point : It could have been a major presentation you were making for a company and you got a little startled. What plays in your head is that for a good couple of minutes you were out of it whereas the truth of the matter is that the members present only saw a few seconds pass by. They didn't even think about it much.

Rule number one is, don't sweat the small stuff. Rule number two is, it's all small stuff.
– Robert Eliot

The takeaway : Don't stay sulking, remember to keep your chin up. Breathe and then continue.
