SOLO TRAVEL ?

You might need to bookmark this for when you travel again. You're welcome!

I've come to appreciate solo travel a lot more now than I used to before. You literally don't have to find a date and time that's conducive for a bunch of people. You have only yourself to worry and think about.

The greatest downside however is that in most cases it's more costly as compared to group travel. Whenever you're looking up any travel packages, they are mostly curated to at least pairs and groups. Therefore, whenever you request for a quote as a solo traveler you do get a higher price.

I assume it's because such companies are still trying to earn as close as possible to what they would have earned had it been two people who had booked.

But is this it? Will you never travel solo?

First of all, I hope that we all get to that point where we won't feel the pinch of paying more but for now here are 3 tips that can help you save your coins :

  1. Book early in advance - This is a tried and tested tip. Booking your trip early in advance saves you a lot of money. Sometimes you can even get options for flexible payment such as paying in instalments. Take your time to search all available options eg; different airlines and pricing before you settle on which works for you.

  2. Get an Airbnb - You will most definitely spend a fraction of what you would have spent booking a hotel. Plus you can always go visit the different hotels during your stay so it's still a win. And have you seen some of these Airbnb's that are out there ? Pure gems ! Of course as you book your Airbnb also be keep, I'd recommend you check out places hosted by a "Superhost".

  3. Travel during off-peak seasons - There is a place I have been wanting to go to for the longest time now. So I decided to check out the prices in order to do my budget and all. I discovered that if I booked the place when it's off season I will spend 3 times less than during peak season! Can you believe it?

Solo travel can be quite an enjoyable experience with proper planning. On the next travel post I'll share tips on fun things to do as a solo traveller (which can really apply to groups as well) and essentials to bring on a trip.

Also, if you are planning to travel soon please observe the necessary measures to keep yourself safe.
