Three Nigerian-Irish teenagers; Rachel, Margaret, and Joy developed an app that uses music to bring comfort to those living with dementia.

Memory Haven, the name of the app, was coded after the girls expressed immense concerns about how dementia patients were coping during lockdown. This wonderful tech of art has already won a prestigious award at the Technovation—a global community of students, mentors, and ambassadors determined to change the world using technology.

Dementia is a general term for loss of memory, language, and problem-solving skills among many abilities that interfere with the patient’s daily functioning. Music for dementia patients can boos their moods, reduce agitation, and improve their focus. Furthermore, music can help instigate emotions and memories which lead them to their past.
